January 2026 Interior Design Events You Can’t Miss
Summary
January 2026 features five major interior design and architecture events: Maison & Objet, Heimtextil, imm Cologne, IDS Toronto, and Palm Beach Design Days. Each gives firm owners a different lens on the year ahead, from global trend forecasting and textile performance to residential furniture, professional discourse, and relationship-driven sourcing.
Reflection Questions
Which event best aligns with your firm’s current needs: trend forecasting, technical specification, sourcing, or relationship-building?
How can attending (or skipping) certain fairs clarify your positioning in terms of budget range, craftsmanship, and client expectations?
What insights from these January events could directly inform your first-quarter decisions around vendors, materials, or project timelines?
Journal Prompt
As you plan the year ahead, reflect on how early exposure to global design markets influences your confidence as a firm owner. Which decisions feel clearer after engaging with industry events, and where do you still need more information or support?
January is surprisingly packed with design events. Of course, this month is a little bit awkward as half of us are hurtling ourselves into new year’s resolutions while the other half are fighting post-vacation blues. Whether your brain is fuzzy or you’re heading into 2026 bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, these events will shake you out of your funk and put you on the right path. From Maison & Objet to Palm Beach Design Days, there’s something for everyone (everywhere). Let us know in the comments below if you plan to attend any of the January 2026 interior design and architecture events on our list. And please! Tell us if we missed any!
Five January 2026 Interior Design and Architecture Events
Maison & Objet
Paris, France
January 15 to January 19, 2026

Maison & Objet is often the first major checkpoint of the year. It is large, busy, and occasionally overwhelming, but it remains one of the most reliable places to see where the interiors market is heading. Furniture, lighting, decorative objects, and fragrance all sit side by side, which makes it easier to understand how brands are positioning themselves beyond a single product type.
In January 2026, the fair will likely be less interested in visual excess and more focused on finish and construction. The fair’s site identifies this year’s theme as “Past Reveals Future,” which can be broken down into four themes: “METAMORPHOSIS, MUTATION, REVISITED BAROQUE, and NEO FOLKLORE.” From both established and emerging brands, you’ll notice which pieces feel substantial and seem a bit more tentative. That distinction matters, especially for designers making early-year sourcing decisions.
International exhibitors include ImperfettoLab from Italy, Anna Torfs Objects from Belgium, Giopato & Coombes from France, alongside so many others. Explore the full exhibitors list here on the Maison & Object website before attending the fair.
Heimtextil
Frankfurt, Germany
January 13 to January 16, 2026
Heimtextil opens the January calendar slightly earlier and stays tightly focused on textiles and surface materials. As their website notes, this is “the world’s largest variety of home and contract textiles for interior design, hospitality, sleep and the carpet industry.” Upholstery fabrics, wall coverings, rugs, curtains, and technical textiles fill the halls, along with manufacturers specializing in contract and hospitality applications. Architects and interior designers come here for information they will rely on throughout the year.

The fair is less about visual presentation and more about hands-on evaluation. Visitors spend time comparing weave density, backing, and finish. Conversations revolve around abrasion ratings, cleaning requirements, sustainability certifications, and production timelines. These details may feel tedious in the moment, but they tend to prevent problems later during specification and installation. Exhibitors this year include A2Home, Jihua 3542, ABN, SRI ARASU TEX and so many others.
In 2026, Heimtextil also intersects with Frankfurt’s role as World Design Capital. Citywide exhibitions and talks provide additional context around housing, interiors, and material innovation. While Heimtextil itself remains firmly practical, the surrounding programming helps connect textile decisions to larger architectural and urban questions.
imm Cologne
Cologne, Germany
January 20 to January 23, 2026
imm Cologne follows shortly after Heimtextil and shifts the focus back to furniture for residential interiors as an enormous B2B trade fair. Sofas, dining tables, chairs, storage systems, and bedroom furniture make up the bulk of the fair. Most of what is shown feels ready for real use rather than conceptual display. This year’s theme focuses on global design. Quoting imm Cologne director Bernd Sanden, this press release from Furniture World notes that imm 2026 “‘brings the entire spectrum of home interiors together at a single event. The trade fair reflects the latest developments, drives trends and serves as a central marketplace, making it the leading business event for the consumer-oriented furniture industry.'”

Year-to-year changes at imm tend to be subtle. A sofa line expands with a new module. A chair is offered in an additional material. A storage system is refined for easier installation. These adjustments provide insight into how manufacturers are responding to pricing pressure, shipping constraints, and evolving client expectations.
For designers working on residential projects, imm is particularly useful early in the year. You leave with a clear understanding of what is available, how it performs, and how it fits into current budgets and timelines. We particular love how imm offers a wide variety of products, both in the luxury space and in more entry-level price ranges. This makes the fair’s exhibitors more approachable for new firm owners and their established mentors.
Interior Design Show Toronto
Toronto, Canada
January 22 to January 25, 2026
IDS Toronto overlaps slightly with imm Cologne but with a different scale and sensibility. The show combines established manufacturers with independent studios, emerging designers, and installation-based work. As this press release from The Architect’s Newspaper notes, 2026 exhibitors will also embrace a global theme, with vendors like “Eames Demetrios of the Eames Office; architect Tatiana Bilbao; IKEA’s Global Chief Product & Commercial Officer Fredrika Inger; designers Tommy Smythe, Brian Gluckstein, and Colette van den Thillart.” This mix keeps the floor from feeling uniform and allows for a wider range of ideas.
Material choices tend to be deliberate. Wood, metal, stone, and glass are handled with restraint, and many exhibitors emphasize longevity over trend-driven appeal. The work often feels designed for daily use rather than short-term attention. Programming at IDS usually reflects the realities of contemporary practice.
Panels and talks will address sourcing challenges, production constraints, and professional sustainability with speakers like Adriana Mot, Ken Flannigan, Lin Cassie Zhen, and others. One presentation we’re particularly looking forward to is The Evolution of Contemporary Design from the Caribbean, Africa & the Diaspora: Crafting Luxury Through Cultural Identity, hosted by Paul Jeffrey, Shirley Rafina, and Meryem Ajaraâm. Palm Beach Design Days
Palm Beach, Florida, USA
January 27 to January 30, 2026
Palm Beach Design Days closes out the month and operates on a very different model. Instead of a single fairground, events take place across showrooms, private residences, and galleries throughout Palm Beach and all sales benefit The Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach. Furniture and finishes are presented within fully realized interiors, which allows for a more accurate sense of scale and detail.
The event draws a strong residential audience, particularly designers and architects working in markets where craftsmanship and long-term value are priorities. Book signings and cocktail parties also abound, so this is an excellent networking opportunity for firm owners and rising designers. Speakers include Robin Standeffer, Isabel Brewster, Victoria Hagan, Kiko Sanchez, and other incredible designers. Perigold will host “The New Rules of Luxury: How Designers Are Defining Beauty, Craft, and Comfort Today” with moderator Jackie Terrebonne, so be sure to check that out if you attend.
The format encourages slower movement and longer discussions, which we love!
