Are there opportunities in your upcoming projects to incorporate more expressive, design-forward lighting as a statement or storytelling element?
Journal Prompt
Take a moment to reflect on a recent or upcoming project and write about how lighting played—or could have played—a more intentional role in the design narrative. Hudson Valley Lighting Group (HVLG) is a trusted vendor in the lighting world. It encompasses five distinctive brands (Hudson Valley Lighting, Mitzi, Troy, Corbett, and CSL) and boasts collaborations with numerous celebrated design partners. Loving their designer-forward approach, we have worked with HVLG for years and always enjoy viewing their new collections while showroom hopping at High Point Market; in fact, we photographed a number of new HVL fixtures at this past April’s HPMKT.
Each brand under the HVLG umbrella has its own unique aesthetic—with fixtures ranging from high-style luxury to performance-driven minimalism. Even with this diversity, HVLG’s mission is clear and uncompromising: to empower designers to create expressive, thoughtfully illuminated spaces. Whether working on a commercial or residential project, interior designers can always look to HVLG for exceptional craftsmanship, compelling design, and robust product selection.

About Hudson Valley Lighting

HVLG is led by founder David Littman, whose roots in lighting go back generations. Inspired early on by his mother’s love of antiques and his grandfather’s commercial lighting company, David launched Hudson Valley Lighting in the 1980s and has grown it into a globally respected brand. He still plays an active role in day-to-day operations, with a clear eye on both heritage and innovation.
The HVLG Family of Brands

Each of the five HVLG brands has a distinct point of view, but they are all united by a shared emphasis on quality, detail, and design integrity. That is truly their guiding philosophy.
The company’s eponymous brand, Hudson Valley Lighting, blends traditional forms with a more modern sensibility that works incredibly well across a wide range of interior styles. You’ll see their pendant lights, sconces, and chandeliers in both heritage homes and contemporary interiors.
Another HLVG brand, Troy Lighting leans more into texture and craftsmanship. Its designs often feature organic materials and warm finishes, which makes them a natural fit for relaxed, earthy spaces. Next, Corbett Lighting is a bit more dramatic. These statement pieces boast bold silhouettes, unexpected materials, and luxury.
The fourth lighting collection from HVLG, Mitzi is the most playful of the group. It’s approachable, affordable, and always style-forward—perfect for clients who want their lighting to feel current without being trendy. This brand also includes a stunning collaboration with interior designer Mandy Cheng.
Last but not least, CSL (Creative Systems Lighting) is HVLG’s performance-focused brand. With advanced technology and minimal form factors, this line is ideal for clean-lined, architectural projects that require precision lighting. Together, these five brands form the unforgettable and incomparable “HVLG experience.”
What Designers Need to Know About HVLG
Materials and Finishes from HVLG
One thing that consistently sets HVLG apart is the quality of their finishes and their use of stunning natural materials. Their comprehensive selection spans warm, cool, dark, and light options—each with distinct tones and textures.
You’ll find beautifully executed brass finishes (aged, lacquered, waxed), silvers ranging from polished nickel to warm silver leaf, and dramatic dark tones like Old Bronze and Soft Black. Vintage gold leaf even features on a few fixtures. Their white finishes are soft and subtle, while their ceramics and leathers are more artisanal.
No matter which finish you select for a project, HVLG delivers great lighting that perfectly reflects that space.
The HVLG Trade Program
HVLG’s trade program is tailored to the way designers work. Members receive exclusive pricing across all five brands, real-time stock updates, access to swatches and catalogs, and support from dedicated account managers.
Whether you’re sourcing for a multi-home development or a single client’s renovation, Hudson Valley Lighting offers a number of tools and resources to make the light purchasing process far easier. Designers can apply for the program on the Hudson Valley Lighting Group website here.
Designer Collaborations We Love

HVLG frequently partners with some of the most respected voices in interior design to develop exclusive collections that feel personal, elevated, and fresh. Hudson Valley Lighting collections have been designed by Mark D. Sikes, Colin King, Lauren Liess, Chandler McLellan, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Megan Molten, Eny Lee Parker, Ariel Okin, and more. Below are a few of our favorite collaborations with HVLG over the years.
Mandy Cheng’s Collection

Based in Los Angeles, Mandy Cheng is known for her approachable, California-cool aesthetic that balances laid-back warmth with visual clarity. Her background in set design and architecture brings a layered sensibility to her interiors—and that same attention to detail and texture comes through in her lighting work with Mitzi. According to HVL, Cheng’s collection was “inspired by the colors textures and patterns of nature.” Working with Mitzi, Chen chose to incorporate “details like tassels, wood accents, pillowy silhouettes, and soft curves.”
Kelly Behun’s Collection

A longtime design talent based in New York City, Kelly Behun is best known for highly curated, gallery-like interiors that blend modern art and architecture with her refined design sensibility. Her lighting for HVLG reflects that ethos—each piece feels intentional and elevated. According to HVL, this collection is “filled with bold forms, sculptural shapes, and beautiful materials.”
Cortney Bishop’s Collection

Based in Charleston, South Carolina, Courtney Bishop is celebrated for creating soulful spaces that merge traditional Southern charm with modernity and a little bit of edge. Her lighting collection brings that same inviting eclecticism. According to HVL, “Artisanal craftsmanship shines through raw natural silk, delicate perforated details, and striking scale” in Bishop’s collection.
Noz Nozawa’s Collection

The San Francisco-based designer behind Noz Design, Noz Nozawa is known for her fearless use of color, pattern, and layered storytelling. A rising star in the industry, her interiors—and now her lighting—feel bold, deeply personal, and full of movement. According to HVL, Nozawa’s collection meshes her “illustrious interior design career and passion project of designing jewelry…[telling] the brilliant story of what is possible when these two art forms collide.”
Tali Roth’s Collection

Originally from Australia and now based in New York, Roth has built a reputation for interiors that feel lived-in and beautifully undone. Her lighting for Mitzi reflects an enduring love of 1970s design and playful shapes. According to HVL, “This collection focuses on whimsical forms and sophisticated materials, [speaking] to Tali’s love of vintage lighting.”
Final Thoughts on Hudson Valley Lighting

One of the best things about Hudson Valley Lighting is that the group often feels more like a design partner than a vendor. With their wide range of product styles, finish options, and designer collaborations, they offer creative solutions for nearly every kind of project—truly a “one stop shop” with one of the most comprehensive high-end lighting selections we have seen.
