From a citywide design expo in Taoyuan to one of Hong Kong’s largest lighting fairs, Asia’s fall design calendar gives us quite a bit to follow this year, even if from afar! Between late September and November, designers can visit exhibitions devoted to Taiwanese industry and urban design, source home and lifestyle products in Shanghai, compare lighting manufacturers in Hong Kong, or plan trips around design festivals in Tokyo and Seoul.

Below, we’ve selected five events that interior designers, architects, product designers, and other creative professionals may want to know about this fall. Some already have detailed 2026 programs, while others are still publishing exhibitors, speakers, and special projects before the events open.

Five Important Design Events Coming to Asia This Fall

#1 Taiwan Design Expo 2026

Dates: September 24 through October 11, 2026
Location: Taoyuan, Taiwan

Taiwan Design Expo comes to Taoyuan for the first time from September 24 through October 11. Qingpu and Zhongli serve as the two primary areas, and organizers have planned 16 themed exhibitions across Taoyuan Convention and Exhibition Center, the Qingpu branch of Taoyuan Public Library, and Chung Yuan Cultural and Creative Park. Five additional locations include Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts Open Space, Taoyuan Children’s Art Center, Hengshan Calligraphy Art Center, an Indigenous exhibition area, and Daxi Wood Art Ecomuseum. More than 100 design teams are participating.

The 2026 theme, Taoyuan Flow, focuses on the city’s ponds and waterways as well as manufacturing, trade, migration, and culture. Taoyuan plays a major role in global supply networks, and that part of the city’s identity is included in the curatorial framework alongside its local communities and changing urban landscape. Taiwan Design Expo has worked with cities and counties throughout Taiwan since 2003, so visitors will see product and graphic design alongside projects concerned with public space, industry, and city development.

#2 Interior Lifestyle China

Dates: October 8 through 10, 2026
Location: Shanghai Exhibition Centre, Shanghai, China

Interior Lifestyle China takes place October 8 through 10 at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre. Messe Frankfurt organizes the fair around three primary sectors: home, gifting, and travel. The event brings international and Chinese brands together with retailers, distributors, professional buyers, corporate buyers, e-commerce teams, and other people working across the lifestyle market. In 2025, the fair reported 226 brands from 27 countries and regions and more than 9,000 buyer visits.

The 2026 dates coincide with Shanghai Fashion Week, which places the fair in Shanghai during an especially active period for fashion and retail. Interior designers can spend the day comparing home accessories, decorative objects, tabletop, furnishings, and lifestyle products inside one venue. It is a very different setup from Taiwan Design Expo or DESIGNART TOKYO, where exhibitions are spread across multiple locations.

#3 Hong Kong International Lighting Fair, Autumn Edition

Dates: October 27 through 30, 2026
Location: Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong

Lighting deserves its own trip when a project depends on custom fixtures, smart controls, architectural systems, or new LED technology. The HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair, Autumn Edition, takes place October 27 through 30 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Designers will find dedicated areas for Connected Lighting, the Hall of Aurora, Residential Lighting, and LED display solutions. HKTDC’s current exhibitor directory already contains nearly 2,000 companies, although the organizer notes that the list is not yet complete.

The accompanying Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo runs October 26 through 29 at AsiaWorld-Expo. Together, the events cover decorative, residential, commercial, architectural, outdoor, smart, and technical lighting. The Hall of Aurora is a natural first stop for interior designers looking for decorative fixtures, while the connected-lighting areas focus on controls and systems for projects with larger technical requirements. HKTDC will also run its Click2Match online business-matching platform from October 19 through November 6.

#4 DESIGNART TOKYO

Dates: October 30 through November 8, 2026
Location: Tokyo, Japan

DESIGNART TOKYO celebrates its 10th edition from October 30 through November 8. Exhibitions take place in shops, galleries, museums, restaurants, and event spaces across central Tokyo. The organizer’s current entry guidelines identify Omotesando, Gaienmae, Harajuku, Shibuya, Roppongi, Ginza, and the Tokyo Station area among the participating districts. Around 250,000 visitors are expected across the ten-day festival.

HPMKT fall 2026

The 2026 theme is Hibiki, a Japanese word associated with resonance. DESIGNART accepts work across interiors, art, fashion, product design, craft, graphics, video, and food, which gives the festival a much broader scope than a furniture or interiors trade fair. Visitors can organize a day around a few neighborhoods instead of spending the entire trip inside one exhibition center. The complete fall program is still developing, so individual exhibition details will continue to be published before October.

#5 Seoul Design Festival

Dates: November 26 through 29, 2026
Location: COEX Hall A, Seoul, South Korea

The 25th Seoul Design Festival takes place November 26 through 29 at COEX Hall A. Designhouse organizes the event, and Monthly Design manages the festival. The organizer describes SDF as a platform for Korean and international brands and designers, with work across product design, graphics, fashion, craft, new media, lifestyle, and other creative fields. The 2026 exhibition theme has not yet been published.

Emerging designers have a dedicated place through the festival’s Young Designer Promotion program, which began in 2002. The 2026 mentors include designer and artist Kwangho Lee, CAVA Life CEO Jiyeon Choi, zerosixfour founder Soonman Kwon, and Monthly Design editor-in-chief Myunghwan Choi. The festival also maintains programs for brand promotion and business matching, so the four days at COEX include both public-facing design work and opportunities for designers and brands to meet buyers. Advance ticket sales are scheduled to open in September.

Planning an Asia Design Trip This Fall

There’s enough separation between these dates to make more than one event possible if you are already planning travel in Asia. Taiwan Design Expo continues into October, Interior Lifestyle China follows in Shanghai, and Hong Kong’s lighting fair opens a few days before DESIGNART TOKYO. Seoul Design Festival comes nearly a month later.

Several organizers are still adding exhibitors and individual programs, so we’ll know much more about the Tokyo and Seoul schedules closer to fall. Venue hours, registration requirements, and individual exhibition dates can vary even within the same festival, particularly for citywide events. We’ll keep an eye on the 2026 programs as September and October draw closer.
